The
kick-off to the biggest night in racing at Brighton Speedway
was an action-packed affair on Saturday.
The
DIRTcar Sportsman headlined the Applefest Shootout Eve event
along with the Late Models, Canadian Modified/UMP’s, the
Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Club, Thunder Stocks and
Ministocks engaging in 90 feature laps on top of multiple
heats and timed hot laps.
Herrington
scores first Dirtcar Sportsman series career win
Determined
to secure his first Dirtcar Sportsman series career win and
Applefest victory Saturday night, No. 88z driver Bobby
Herrington snapped up the top spot on the lead lap of the
30-lap feature event and never looked back. Herrington
rode the inside line hard as polesitter No. 88K Dylan
Kirkland and No. 35R William Racine tried to overcome the
88z. Racine went door to door with Herrington and was
successful at one point but it didn't last long.
Herrington put the hammer down and parked it in victory lane
with Racine in second. Kirkland took third, No.
18Kalen Draper fourth and No. 94 Gabriel Cyr fourth.
Ramsay
rides to victory lane
It
only took No. 03 Justin Ramsay two laps to take the lead in
the Thundersotck 20-lap main event. Ramsay bit down on
the inside line as he held off powerhouses No. 72 Doug
Anderson, No, 26 Kraig Handley, No. 1 Brock Gregory and No.
40 Ronnie Wadforth who tried to intimidate him from behind.
Even as multiple cautions slowed the pace, Ramsay didn't
waiver as he rode to victory lane leaving Anderson to settle
for a hard-earned second. Handley took third, Gregory
fourth and No. 74 Mike Lucas fifth.
Olivieri
takes Ministock Duel in the Dirt
No.
16 Fabio Olivieri jumped on the lead on the first lap and
never looked back in the caution-riddled 20-lap affair.
Olivieri took home duel in the dirt bragging rights with No.
72 Austin South, No. 7 AJ Rinaldi third, No. 14 L John
Lubeck fourth and No. 96 Cole Abrams fifth.
Powers
and Stapper bring home victories
No.
J73 Josh Powers was flawless in the Eastern Ontario Vintage
Stock Car Club 20-lap main. He picked up the lead in
the 70s/80s division from the drop of the green flag and
took off to victory lane. No. 66 Pete Stapper waived
checkers in the 50/60s class.
Wheeler,
Baldwin and Gregory win dash for cash

driver No. 47s Corey Wheeler, Late Model No. 5 Steve Baldwin
and Candian Modified No. 1 Shawn Gregory each dominated
their 10-lap dash for cash events Saturday night. Wheeler
scored $500, Baldwin won $300 and Gregory earned $200 in the
events.
