Guaranteed Starters Set for DTD All Star Race and Lucas Oil

BRIGHTON, ON - Brighton Speedway is getting ready to roll on Friday September 26th for the 2008 version of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup and the newly added Dirt Track Digest All Star Race. All season long drivers from all over the dirt north east have been competing in qualifying events at participating tracks to put them in a position as guaranteed starters for the 2008 edition of the event. Drivers that have won a qualifying event are guaranteed to start in the 15 Lap Dirt Track Digest All Star Race which pays $1000.00 to win and the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup that pays $1,500.00 to win. These top notch Sportsman Drivers will be doing everything they can to put together a double bill and take home a cool $2,500.00.
“Brighton Speedway is proud to hold such a prestigious event for these sportsman drivers and to offer a chance to race for a large purse,” says Brighton Promoter Mark Rinaldi. These drivers that travel to Brighton Speedway for the event will battle it out for over $10,000 in purse money between the two races. “We felt there was a little flaw in our formula from last year because not enough tracks were included, and this is why we came up with the formula for the Dirt Track Digest All Star Race that now includes 13 Northeast tracks” says Adam Ross of Dirt Track Digest. Not only will the drivers be fighting for themselves but also for home track bragging rights as all drivers that register to race that evening have designated their home track and the winners home track will get to display the over 6 foot Lucas Oil Cup trophy for all of 2008 and a lucrative event sponsorship from Lucas Oil for the upcoming season.
“It’s all about supporting the drivers and the tracks of grass roots racing” says Steve Snowden, National Sales Manager for Lucas Oil Canada, “we have had great cooperation from all the tracks and everybody wins out of this deal, the tracks, the drivers and the fans that get to watch the exciting racing”.
Most of the qualifying events took place throughout the 2008 season during the Lucas Oil Shootout Series at 9 tracks in Southwestern Ontario and Upstate New York. Genesee Speedway, Humberstone Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Ohsweken Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, Can Am Speedway, Thunder Alley Speedway, Brockville Speedway and Brighton Speedway all hosted qualifying events throughout the season in hopes of getting there drivers into the dance! Other qualifying events were held by Fulton Speedway, Canandaigua Speedway, Rolling Wheels Raceway and Cayuga County Speedway.
All of this is a prelude to the racing action set for Saturday, September 27nd when Benson Autoparts presents the 2008 running of the 358 Dirt Modified Shootout featuring the ever popular Lucas Oil CLASH for CASH for 358 Modifieds plus the Canadian American IMCA / Canadian Modified Challenge.
With recent weather the schedule for Applefest weekend has changed slightly so be sure join us Friday, September 26th as Smylie’s Independent Grocers Presents the Lucas Oil Sportsman Challenge Cup, Dirt track Digest Sportsman All Star Race and the Leon’s of Trenton School Bus Races along with other events including Brighton Speedway’s weekly classes. Gates open at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 pm. Adult Admission is $9, Youth and Senior $7, children 7-12 are $2 and 6 and under are always free or a family pass is $20.
