Top 20 set for Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Challenge

The majority of the field has been set for what is one of the most anticipated Dirt Sportsman races of the year as the Lucas Oil Shootout Sportsman Series came to a close at Ransomville Speedway on August 10th. Under the rules of the Sportsman Challenge Cup, Lucas Oil has guaranteed starting positions to the top 20 in points for this unique race at a neutral facility to determine the best of the best!

“Brighton Speedway is proud that Lucas Oil has chosen our track for the site of this ‘All Star’ race” says Brighton Promoter Mark Rinaldi. The top 20 drivers in the points race from the Lucas Oil Shootout Series in attendance on Friday, September 21st will not only battle it out for their share of the over $8000.00 in purse monies but will also be fighting for home track bragging rights. All drivers that register to race that evening have designated their home track and the winner of the race will take home the $1,500.00 first place prize money while the winners home track will get to display the over 6 foot Lucas Oil Cup trophy for all of the 2008 season and a lucrative event sponsorship from Lucas Oil for the upcoming year.

The 2007 Lucas Oil Shootout Series took place throughout the 2007 season at 5 tracks in Southwestern Ontario and Upstate New York. Genesee Speedway, Humberstone Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Ohsweken Speedway and Ransomville Speedway all hosted events to crown a champion. In a special bonus to the drivers that supported the series Lucas Oil decided to host this special race guaranteeing the top 20 positions to the top 20 in points.

The real battle will be fought for the last six starting positions that will be contested by cars outside the top 20 and cars competiting from Eastern Ontario that were not eligible for the series but can attempt to make the field the day of the event. “We will also hold a B-Main with a purse for drivers that don’t make the main event so that every driver that attends Brighton Speedway and attempts to qualify will go home with something” said Brighton Speedway promoter Mark Rinaldi

All of this will prelude Saturday, September 22nd when Imagefactor.ca presents the 2007 running of the 358 Dirt Modified Shootout featuring the ever popular Lucas Oil CLASH for CASH for 358 Modifieds and Hino Trucks of Kingston and Ottawa present the Ontario Dirt Late Models.
